Buying and selling a business
We have lawyers with extensive experience in drawing and settling contracts for the sale and purchase of businesses.
If you are selling a business you must take precautions to minimise an attack against you by the buyer after sale for misleading and deceptive conduct. You cannot contract out of your statutory obligations, but there are strategies to minimise the risk. To be effective they must be engaged in the terms of the contract.
Whether you are a buyer or a seller, we urge you to take legal advice before you sign the contract.
We recommend that you avoid arbitration clauses (see On the benefit and otherwise of arbitration).
We also conduct land settlements.
