Chapter: Golden Rules

Work flow


1. Every morning you must check your "In Progress" and "Task" list. The taks list includes all matter related calendar entries. Check status of your jobslips

2. Every morning solicitors should review Incoming documents under their name. By cheking this list you see your mail as soon as it has been scanned in. It may take some time for the hard copy to reach your desk.

3. Make sure to "Task" every event and put all files that are awaiting action on recall. "Tasking" an event means to create a task document for the event. There is a button for a new task in the Main view. It can takes less than 30 seconds.

4 When taking new instructions, find out the name of all parties first, and do a search of each name in the systems database (as a quick conflict check) before going into any detail on the new instruction.

5. Non retainer letter. Be sure to clarify the scope of your instructions in writing, and in the case of doubt, specify the matters in respect of which we are not acting - eg taxation advice.
